Description
The battle between Heaven and Hell has been going on for so long, no one really remembers why, let alone when, it started. Alas, both sides are desperate for souls that can be used to strengthen their numbers. Their desperation takes them to the mortal realm, where Angels and Demons fight for the souls of mankind.
Demons with Shotguns is a local multiplayer platformer shoot-em-up arena game. Armed with a powerful shotgun, 2-4 players will battle it out in multiple game modes in which they will fight to frag each other and collect their souls. The game is fast paced, honoring 90s arena first-person-shooters like Unreal Tournament. However, this game isn’t just “run n gun”. Players must learn to properly wield their shotgun, holy water grenade and shield to play strategically and learn to counter the attacks of their opponents.
History
I've always loved competitive multiplayer games, growing up on games like Doom, Unreal Tournament, Quake, and Duke Nukem 3D. These are my favorite type of games to play. High action, twitch based shooters. Sometime in early 2012, after playing the classic Super Mario Bros. Battle with some friends, the idea of developing a local 4-player multiplayer game in similar vain has always stuck with me since. Fast forward a bit to early 2013, after creating a Unreal Tournament demake for the Ludum Dare game jam, I decided to take the idea of "Unreal Tournament on SNES" and run with it. After many design iterations, the idea ultimately morphed into what you're seeing today.
Features
- Up to four players can fight with multiple characters to choose from. Play as the Priest who has lost his faith, the desperate Demon, the Heavenless Angel or even Death himself.
- Have no one to play with? Want to hone your skills? Fight against bots!
- Multiple game modes such as Deathmatch, Capture the Soul, Last Soul Standing and more, including team based modes!
- Harness the power of randomly dropped Tarot Cards. You never know what luck or misfortune they will bring.
- Multiple levels to choose from in different environments. Fight at Death's cemetery, square off against the Demon in Hell, have a showdown on the rooftops of a metro wasteland or at a dusty Texas town.
- Harness the power of randomly dropped Tarot Cards. You never know what luck or misfortune they will bring.
- Master the use of your shield to defend yourself against your opponents by deflecting shots or use it as a blunt weapon. Use it wisely, however, as it'll crumble in your hands after deflecting too many shots!
- Battle for your opponents souls!
